
On 14th August every year the Government of India celebrates the Horror Remembrance Day or Vibhajan
Vibhishika Diwas, to remember the partition of India. On this day many people lost their life, family and great loss of economic and cultural upheaval.The objective behind the celebration of the day is to honour the resilience of those who endured this trauma and to reaffirm our collective commitment towards the unity, peace and harmony.
Every year government offices, schools, colleges, Universities, and several other institutions observed this day and pay tribute to those who had lost their lives and recalled the suffering and agony of the people.
Shri Narendra Modi announced in 2021 to observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on 14th August every year.

A special module on “Horror Partition” is designed by the ministry of education with NCERT for the students of the middle and secondary stage.
The module is intended to sensitise students about the historical stories of partition to the students.
