INTRODUCTION
Guru Nanak (1469-1539) was born at Talwandi (Nankana Sahib in Pakistan), he travelled widely before establishing a centre at Kartarpur (Dera Baba Nanak on the river Ravi).

GURDWARA
Guru Nanak created the sacred space was known as dharmsal. It is now known as Gurdwara.
GURU ANGAD
Guru Nanak appointed one of his followers as his successor known as Guru Angad.

Guru Granth Sahib, is the holy scripture of the Sikhs compiled by Guru Govind Singh. It was written in the language Gurmukhi.
GOLDEN TEMPLE
In seventeenth century a town Ramdaspur (Amritsar) had developed around the central Gurdwara called Harmandar Sahib (Golden Temple). Modern historians had refer Golden Temple as ‘a state within a state’
KHALSA PANTH
In 17th Century the Sikh movement initially started which gave birth in the formation of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh in the year 1969 and the community of the Sikhs called the Khalsa Panth.
TEACHINGS
Guru Nanak emphasized the importance of the worship of one God. He used the term nam, dan and isnan for the essence of his teachings. His teachings are now remembered as nam-japana, kir-karna and vand-chhakna. The historians were also underlined that his teaching ideas were very much similar to Kabir, Ravidas and Dadu.
