Kendriya Vidyalaya has released guidelines for Management of Libraries in KVs on 25.07.2025. It has been created taking in view of emerging change evolved due to introduction of National Education Policy 2020 in school education.

Introduction
“Guidelines for Management of Libraries” will work as a Library Policy for the Kendriya Vidyalaya Libraries. Earlier, Kendriya Vidyalaya Libraries were using KVS Library Manuals 2014 to ensure the efficient functioning of Vidyalaya Libraries. This updated Library Policy 2025 focuses on promoting experiential Learning, reading culture, ICT integration, inclusive access of Library resources, and various such types of emerging innovations.
Vision of New Library Policy 2025
- Based on NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023
- Revised policy is released to update the existing 2014 School Library guidelines
- To develop the library as a central hub for motivating self-learning, digital literacy, and inclusive access to available resources.

Key elements require to implement in Kendriya Vidyalaya Library –
- Kendriya Vidyalaya Library should be attractive and easily accessible for all patrons.
- Subscription – Newspaper, magazines, journals and periodicals.
- Encourage reading habits, reading culture among library users.
- Promote sharing of articles to build awareness and comprehension.
- Reduce Screen time : Motivate print reading.
- Essential Library holdings : Year books, Yojana, Kurukshetra, employment news, NCERT, CBSE, KVS Handbooks, Government circulars, Acts and digital Sansad content.
- STEM Corner: It advocates the creation of dedicated STEM corner in the library with Manuals, Handbooks, circulars and reference materials.
- Infrastructure upgradation : This Library Policy also advocates to have inclusive and comfortable furniture, floor charging points and ACs (subject to availability of funds & in view of the GFR 2017)
- Digital Resources & Technology : KVS library should equiped with digital resources like e-books, videos, audios, NDLI, DIKSHA, SWAYAM. As also to print QR codes for easy and smooth access.
- Equip Kendriya Vidyalaya Libraries with – High spec computers, printers, PA Systems, VR headsets, screen readers, braille e-books, RFID system (if feasible)
- Library Blog– Design a library blog using the official email ID of KV.
- For Balvatiks & Primary Classes setup mini-libraries with activity corners for Classes Balvatika to Class V
