National Reading Day, Month 2025 in

Kendriya Vidyalaya celebrates National Reading Day, Month from 19th June to 18th July every year. Various activities are conducted to inculcate reading habits among students.

Why reading day,month is celebrated –

Reading day is celebrated in India on 19th June every year to commemorate Sri P.N.Panicker. He played a crucial role in promoting literacy and reading habit in Kerala and across the Country.

In view of the crucial benefits of reading, the Kerala Government has started celebrating Reading Month annually, from June 19th to July 18th.

The main purpose behind celebration of this mega event is as follows:

  • The inculcate reading habits among the young ones.
  • To create the culture of reading among the citizens of the Country.
  • Builds critical and analytical skills among the students.
  • Encourage life long learning.
  • Improve knowledge & interpersonal communication skills.

P.N.Panicker

P.N.Panicker is known as the Father of the Library Movement in Kerala. His date of death was 19th June, and the day is celebrated as the Reading Day by the Kerala Government since 1966 to commemorate his contribution towards society.
