World Intellectual Property Rights Day is celebrated on the 26th of April every year. The idea behind the observance of this day is to safeguard the Intellectual property of the creator.

Here, the first question arises what do you mean by Intellectual Property? Intellectual Property means the creation of a mind, like an invention in any field. You may also refer to the creation of artistic, literary works, designs, names, symbols etc.

“IP and the SDGs: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity is the theme of World Intellectual Property Rights Day 2024. Here, IP refers to the Intellectual Property and SDGs means Sustainable Development Goals. As per the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization)

To build our common future and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we need to rethink how we live, work, and play. World IP Day 2024 is an opportunity to explore how intellectual property (IP) encourages and can amplify the innovative and creative solutions that are so crucial to building our common future.

About WIPO-

WIPO is abbreviated as the World Intellectual Property Organisation. The WIPO office is located in the United Nations. The main objective behind the setup of this organization is to develop a balance and reachable balance in International IP System.

In the year 2000, World Intellectual Property Organization’s member states approved April 26, the day on which the WIPO Convention came into force in 1970. They want to minimize the gap between Intellectual Property as a business or legal concept.
