NCERT New Textbooks for Class 4,5,7 and 8

NCERT(National Council of Educational Research and Training) has decided to implement new textbooks for Class 4,5,7, and 8 w.e.f the academic session 2025-26. These changes are to be done towards implementing New Education Policy 2020. In the academic session 2024-25, NCERT has released the new textbooks for classes 1,2,3 and 6 only.

Textbooks for classes 1,2,3 and 6 are being implemented by the CBSE-affiliated Vidyalaya, like Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Sangathan. Various new subject like Arts, Physical Education and well being and Vocational Education are also included along with other subjects in consonance with NCF-FS 2022.

NCF-SE 2023 recommendations are being followed for the development of new textbooks for Classes 4,5,6 and 8. The NCERT, has recently released the dates and timeline for the release of textbooks :

BMP : Bridge Month Programme

Bridge Month Programme will be provided by the CBSE for class 5 and Class 8. The main objective of launching such an initiative is to utilize the transition period more effectively. Class 6 is the first grade of the middle stage as per NEP 2020. So this Bridge Month subjects will be taught in fun-based manner.

Bridge Month Programme (BMP) for class 6 are already provided by the NCERT last year 2024. You may download it by clicking on the given link-

In the year 2025-26, the NCERT will also release the Bridge month programme for Class 5, Class 7 and Class 8. In the month of April 2025 school will use this BMP(Bridge Month Programme) to teach student in fun-based manner. The main goal to adopt such bridge month programme is to ease the students’ adaptation to new curriculum.
