Introduction
Veer Bal Diwas is celebrated on December 26th to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the two young sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Baba Zorawar Singh, and Baba Fateh Singh. These two boys were only 9 and 7 years old when the Mughal rulers martyred them for refusing to give up their Sikh faith. Various activities are going to be conducted on Veer Bal Diwas 2024 by the academic institutions.
On 09/01/2022 on the occasion of Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, honorable Prime Minister of India Sh. Narendra Modi Ji had announced that the 26th of December would be observed as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ every year, to mark the martyrdom of the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh – Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji. The first programme on this occasion was celebrated in Delhi at Major Dhyan chand Stadium. The programme was included the ‘Shabad Kirtan’ by approx 300 hundred kirtanis.
Prime Minister of India conveyed that it is important to create awareness about the day among the students and countrymen of India, especially about the life of veer sahibzadas to the world with full determination.
On this occasion. many activities are being conducted in the academic institution like essay writing, quiz competitions, drawing & Painting competition, debate competitions etc.,
A digital exhibition on the life story of the Sahibzades will be displayed in schools . A film on Veer Bal Diwas will also be screened nationwide. Quizzes were also published in the MYBharat and MyGov portals.

Key facts about Veer Bal Diwas
In 1704, after being captured by the Mughals, the Sahibzadas were treated badly but stayed strong in their beliefs. They were not ready to change their religion and were killed by being bricked alive in the city of Sirhind. Their story is one of great courage and love for their faith.
Veer Bal Diwas was officially declared by the Government of India in 2021 to remember their bravery. People hold prayers, processions, and school events to teach others about the sacrifice of the Sahibzadas and to spread values like courage, faith, and standing up for what is right.
Veer Bal Diwas helps remind us to always be brave, stay true to our beliefs, and do what is right, no matter what challenges we face.
