The Kendriya Vidyalaya as officially announced the Learners’ Achievement Test (LAT) for the academic session 2026-27. The assessment will be conducted for students of Classes III, VI and IX across all Kendriya Vidyalayas.

The primary objective of the LAT is to identify students’ learning gaps, assess conceptual understanding, and provide schools with valuable insights to improve teaching and learning outcomes. According to KVS, the assessment is purely diagnostic in nature and is not intended as a high-stakes examination.

What is the KVS Learners’ Achievement Test (LAT)?

The Learners’ Achievement Test (LAT) is a diagnostic assessment conducted by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to evaluate students’ understanding of concepts and learning outcomes prescribed by NCERT.

The results help teachers identify areas where students need additional academic support. KVS has also stated that LAT prepares students for national-level assessments such as PARAKH and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLS) by familiarizing them with standardized assessment formats.

Is LAT an Annual Examination?

No.

KVS has clearly mentioned that LAT is a diagnostic assessment, not a regular annual examination. The purpose is to identify students’ strengths and weaknesses so that teachers can provide timely academic support
